Today I'm touring the wonderful Melissa Walker. Her book, Violet in Private, is the third in a series about Violet— the wallflower who blooms into an international modeling star—until she realizes there may be more to life than the runway…
Melissa (despite looking about 12) is a former editor at Ellegirl and Seventeen magazine so it's fair to say that she knows her stuff. She is also a marketing guru and an all round totally nice person and here's a teaser of what happens in book three:
Everyone knows her as Violet Greenfield, the supposedly cultured and worldly nineteen-year-old with sky-high confidence because she’s done fashion weeks internationally. But the truth is, modeling has done little for Violet’s self-esteem. And now that she’s finally headed to college, she’s terrified that she’ll turn back into that girl who blended into the walls all throughout high school…
Violet’s friends in fashion are only a two-hour train ride away in New York City, and they all think she’s crazy to stop modeling. But her best friend Roger hopes she’ll go back to being the girl next door. Of course, things have been weird between them ever since they kissed—and now he’s got a girlfriend. So the question is: if she’s not “Violet on the Runway” anymore, who exactly is she?
Now, normally this is the part where I subject my poor guests to my lousy interview questions, but since Melissa has already done them once (and begged for mercy) we decided she should do a guest blog and because she is a total clever clogs, she did a video for me - how totally cute!!!! (and btw, while I haven't read the Sarah Dressen book that she is talking about I saw the movie that it was made into with Mandy Moore and I love, love, loved it so that book is definitely now on my list, as is Melissa's Violet books which are nearing the top of my tbr pile. Anyway, enough from me, go click on the youtube clip and meet Melissa herself!!!!)

Your interview questions ROCK, but my repetitive answers would have not rocked. So glad you like the vlog! Yay!
PS-I totally can't talk over "I want you to want me," which was a signature song of mine back in the day (kind of the pathetic day), but the youtube clickthrough works too. I love that you have a blog soundtrack!
Fab vlog.... I've got one too!!!!
Aw, I love Melissa's vlogs, and I was totally there when she got that book signed by Sarah Dessen! I even took a picture of the two of them together, and it wasn't in a stalker way either- Melissa asked me to, lol.
That was quite honestly one of the best days ever in my entire life- chatting with Melissa in line while we wait to meet Sarah Dessen with a small visit from David Levithan. A total author-studded event!
Melissa - you have great taste in music! I still listen to that Cure song you chose last time so I'm pleased that I Want You To Want Me is another fav (it's one of my fav songs ever!!)
Sara - am off to check your vlog!
BC - wow, I do remember you telling me about that but I hadn't joined the two things together! Anyway, talk about a major fanboy moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just read Someone Like You about a week ago. I loved it!! Was proud for having read it before Melissa!! This is also the first place I saw her amazing dress.
