Yesterday you met one of my critique partners Pat Posner, and today it's time to meet another one of the poor, poor people who have to read through my zombie infested manuscripts. That's right, it's time to let Sara Hantz come out and play.
Sara is not only my cp but she also happens to live twenty minutes down the road from me and in New Zealand the phone companies very kindly give us local calls for free. Which much means that Sara's husband spends his whole life saying 'is that Amanda on the phone?'. And yes, sadly, most of the time it is me since between living in the same time zone and getting free calls, Sara has to put up with all my ridiculous concerns.
Thankfully she has a PhD in dealing with Ridiculous Concerns so it all works out nicely. Another thing she has, is an amazing book called The Second Virginity of Suzy Green, which, if you haven't read yet, then I absolutely insist that you put it on your list right this minute because it is fabulous. Anyway one of the questions I told my guest bloggers they could discuss was the dumb things that either they or their characters have done for love and while we still haven't managed to find anyone who has turned their entire senior year into zombies, I think Sara's heroine Suzy still manages to do something pretty crazy. Check it out and don't forget to comment at the end to go in with a chance of winning a copy of Sara's book.
Hi, Suzy Green here from The Second Virginity of Suzy Green by Sara Hantz. I’m so excited that Amanda has asked me to take part in the blog party for the launch of her latest book Zombie Queen of Newbury High – which is a truly fabulous book and laugh outloud funny!
Amanda wants to know the dumbest thing I’ve ever done for love. Well…… there’s dumb and there’s dumb and I’m pretty sure my experience falls into the latter.
When I started my new school, determined to be Miss Perfect Student I totally fell for this hottie who was gorgeous, played in the football team and was awesome. The only snag, he was involved in this Virginity Club. I know, a Virginity Club! So I did what any girl in my position would, I joined. Even though technically I wasn’t qualified. But when love is involved compromises have to be made.
Anyway, it turns out this guy, who was called Guy, wasn’t the guy I thought (ok.. enough with the guy jokes) and the guy (oops) I mean boy I was really in love with (Ryan) knew me for who I really was (and definitely knew I wasn’t a virgin as he was The One) and didn’t expect me to be any different.
So, not only was I dumb for joining the Virginity Club when I shouldn’t have, I wasn’t even in love! Still, it all turned out ok in the end. Ryan and I are still together and totally in love.
Thanks Sara (and Suzy) for sharing that. Like I said, not quite zombie levels of dumbness but I think it comes close! Anyway, since we've already had a few posts where you've all very bravely confessed what dumb things you've done, what I want to know if you've ever lied in the name of love??????
Also, it's not to late to leave comments for Stephanie Keuhnert and Vanessa Barneveld Retweet this button on every post blogger

Hmmm...I have definitely lied before in the name of love...it is quite an embarrassing story that I will refrain from sharing to the entire blogosphere.

I don't recall ever lying to anyone in the name of love...or at least romantic love. I've made white lies when the situation calls for them. But that's about it.
When I was 13 I made all my friends lie to this guy (ha ha see what I did there, Sara?!) I liked, so he'd think I was 14. Yes, I actually added a year to my age.
Just for the record, I've never done anything that crazy again!!!
i have never actually lied to a guy (oops I mean boy) but who hasn't done dumb things. There are thousands of songs written every year about the dumb things people do for love, haha
I love Suzy Green's blog post. It reminds me of when Brooke joined Clean Teens on One Tree Hill. I definitely need to read the book to find out what happens.
I am sure I've lied in the name of love as most people probably have. However, none of the lies are coming to mind right now.
I just wanted to jump in and say that I love this book! :)
great contest again, thankf for all the giveaways Amanda and participating authors!
I have mostly lied about silly things, like yes I do lvoe you in that shirt, and yes I do like your music...not
I think I did, so many times.
I'm not sure if I have or not. If I have, it hasn't been for a very memorable moment.

Amber.... you can share.... we won't tell anyone!
I love reading all these responses! I've definitely lied for love...sometimes it's just necessary!
White lies definitely don't count, nightdweller20, because we all do them all the time... don't we????
I bet you're not adding years to your age now, Christina!!!
Amber - hahaha - I'm not a sharer either though I'm pleased you have a story locked up there somewhere!
And it looks like most of us have at least donea little white lie every now and then. All is justified in love - except perhaps turning into a zombie and eating your boyfriend. Apparently that is frowned upon!
I know, Erika, we all do dumb things.... just some are dumber thna others!!
Hope you enjoy it, Shalonda!
Thanks, so much Luisa!! Right back at you!
You're welcome, Marjolein.
Blodeuedd.... those sorts of lies almost don't count!
Me too Thao and Meredith!
I second that, sweetmelissa818!
I hate to break it to you Amanda, but yes turning into a zombie and eating your boyfriend is definitely passe!!
Hm, I guess there were those little white lies I've made such as "Yes, I like that (not really..)" Things like that!
Yeah, Amanda. I guess turning into a zombie and eating your boyfriend wouldn't be fair. That's not to say that they didn't deserve it!
I dont think I've ever lied for love, atleast nothing major. I told my ex that I loved his shirt a few times just so he wouldn't feel bad, but thats about it.

Well, they do say all is fair in love and war... (Which is, of course, a total lie.)
I haven't done anything big, but I'm sure I've made up a couple of white lies just to look good in front my crush or something like that. Oops.
Hi, Sara! I've confessed too much here this week already. I think the zombies made me do it.
Suzy Green is a fantastic chick. The deeper she got into her lie, the worse I felt for her. Glad to hear she and Ryan are still together!
~ Vanessa
Hmmm... I don't think there's been anything that major.
I haven't lied for love before so I have nothing to tell.
Have I lied for love? Hmm, I've lied to my friends about being busy because I was waiting for my boyfriend to call. Now I've wisened up and call him :)
Oooh, I've seen this book around and about so many times that I always mean to pick it up. Cute cover!
my daughter has this and loves it!
I've made white lies up when I was a teenager...like saying I was older or something to a hotter older guy, but nothing too extreme. I know, how boring!
sammyjones57(at)hotmail(dot)com
Yes, as a teenager I did lie in the name of love.
I added the book to my list of books to read. =D
Lied for love? I am pretty sure I have but can't recall ;)
Hehehe - sweetmelissa - you're a girl after my own heart! In fact maybe I should write a book about karma zombies who only go around eating bad boyfriends. A bit like Dexter of the undead!!!
And great to see so many Suzy Green fans out that and so many more of you who are ready to be converted!!!
Haha you and Sara remind me of my friend and I when it comes to the phone. If I'm on the phone, my family automatically knows who it is. Hmm I don't think I've ever lied in the name of love? Because since I'm young, I haven't really fallen in love yet :) I still have time ahead for me haha.
oh, definitely lied for love, for myself and for a friend to get info for her!! :) and i am so not going to tell!!
I love Suzy Green - your post has made me want to read it again, Sara. So guess who's having an early night with a great book!
I'm more of a white liar, too. Never anything major. But Suzy sounds like a great character I'd love to read!
Hmm. I actually lied but it was all in the name of impressing dear ol' crush.
Sue
I loved The Second Virginity of Suzy Green. For those that haven't read it yet - you totally should.
Signed, Sara's unofficial SF stalker...
Hm, no I never actually lied to someone I liked. I mean I wouldn't tell him and he wouldn't ask if I liked him, but...no I don't think there are and actual lies.
I can't think of a time I've lied in the name of love. What can I say, I'm a good kid. =)
I'm pathetic. The only lie I've made in the name of love is making up crushes. You know, like in Truth or Dare when you have to name your crush? I made up a nonexistant older boy or multiple nonexistant boys that lived far away so I'd never see them again.
I was a teenager - of course!
Oh yeah, I still do occasionally, to keep from getting yelled at. It's a vicious cycle that I'm totally guilty of. LOL
