What? You didn't know that Santa was a zombie? Seriously, wake up people. No one gets a belly like that from eating mince pies and shots of milk. It's all human flesh and brains-but you know, in a nice way because it is the season to be jolly!
Anyway, I hope that everyone has a wonderful festive season planned. I for one am going to do NOTHING. With a capital NOTHING. I managed to get my Fairy Bad Day revisions handed in on Friday and then, a bit like waking up for a dream, I realized that it's Christmas next week (or as Santa would say, feeding time) and I have decided that I'm not even going to attempt to look at my second Djinn book until 2010! Yup, that's fighting talk for you!!!!!
In other news I've been hanging out with my fab buddy, SG Browne (author of Breathers: A Zombie Lament) and he is hitting me up with some pretty big questions. You can check it out here, and if you haven't read Scott's book then, you must, you must, you must.
I will be back soon to talk about new year's resolutions. I managed to get some of mine nailed this year but others, not so much, but I've thinking a lot about them. I might even do a craft post or two, since I've had a very interesting revision process and I thought I'd share some stuff I've learnt (okay, had hammered into my head!!!).
So what's everyone else got planned for Christmas (apart of course from avoiding Mr. Jingle Bells singing, brain eating Claus)??

Christmas music
Fairy Tale of New York by Shane MacGowan and Kirsty MacColl is my favorite Christmas song and I can quite easily listen to it all day on loop. What about everyone else. What songs will you be tuning into these holidays?

Kindle
Zombie Queen of Newbury High has been Kindlefied!! Not that we can buy Kindles in NZ or, therefore, Kindle books, but still, I'm easily pleased, hence my excitement. Anyway, if you haven't read Zombie yet (shame on you!) and you have a Kindle, now you can download it in style!!!!!
Writing going well, sunshine going well, children still taking it in turns to think that they are sick. Worst thing is that ever since I sent my son to school a couple of weeks ago and he promptly threw up all over the desk, I've been a bit more hesitant in being able to decide if they are conning me or not. Though between you, me and the wall, I suspect that they are.
Hope everyone's been having a great week. Deets please! Retweet this button on every post blogger

Sunny
Yup, the weather. That's all I've got right now!!!!! But after are dreadful spring (which, according to who you to talk to, has been the worst in 65 million years) any sunshine is a big deal!!! The revisions are going well though I'm concerned that I had to cut out a scene where my hero was wearing nothing but a towel. Might have to find another spot for it!!!!!

GCC presents Debbie Rigaud
Hooray, today I'm touring a brand new girlfriend, Debbie Rigaud and her amazing looking book, Perfect Shot. But before we talk about the book, lets talk about Debbie.
She began her writing career covering news and entertainment for magazines—namely, Seventeen, Twist and CosmoGIRL, and Perfect Shot is her first full lenght novel. Oh and while she's a Jersey girl at heart she actually lives in Bermuda. Bermuda, people! Picture me jealous!!!!!!
Even cooler, not only is Perfect Shot the first Simon Pulse Comedies book to feature an African-American protagonists, but Debbie is their first African-American author as well, so kudos for being a pioneer!!!!
So what's the story about? Well here's the skinny:
London Abram’s first love is volleyball, so why does she enter an online modeling competition? Answer: superhottie Brent St. John. London spots Brent signing in contestants at a store, and she gets in line simply to say hi. But she never dreams she’ll make it into the competition!
London’s now up against fourteen hungry fashionistas willing to do whatever it takes to win. All she wants to win is Brent’s heart…but the money prize couldn’t hurt. If London plays this right, she can win the contest, the boy, and the cash. GAME ON!
And now, for the very last time I will be airing my 2009 questions (before I need to put my thinking cap on and come up with some newies!!!!!) so sit back and enjoy as I put Debbie through her paces!!!!!
1 How did you first get the idea for your current book?
I wanted to write a romantic story about two ambitious, enterprising teens. In PERFECT SHOT, London is actively grooming herself for what she hopes is a future spot on the Olympic volleyball team. And her crush Brent is a photography intern at an online magazine.
2 I often say that everything I know about writing has come from Buffy. Is there any movie/tv show/book/author that you think has helped your writing career?
TV definitely had a huge influence on my writing, too. But even more of an inspiration has been the oral storytelling I was exposed to growing up. The women in my family are amazing storytellers with unmatched wit and humor. My grandmother used to tell a story with her entire body. I?m not even exaggerating! My mother-in-law is the same. She grew up during the war, had only a very basic education but man, she can even make a trip to the doctor into an amazing story! It's definitely an art form!!!!
3 What's a normal writing day for you?
It?s either feast or famine?I tend to write in spurts. For days on end, I?ll write very little if at all. On those days I busy myself with research, smaller writing assignments and general networking. Then when inspiration strikes (usually in the form of a looming deadline), I punch out a significant amount a pages per day. As random as this sounds, it seems to work for me.
4 The best blooper I've ever done as a writer was when I had my heroine hand the hero something. Problem was they were sharing the same body at the time! So to help lessen my embarrassment, I'd love to know what your best writing blooper is and did someone catch it before your book went into print?
I feel your pain. As a magazine writer, I?ve had my share of writing bloopers. Once while writing a photo caption, I incorrectly identified the people in the photo. Unfortunately, that went to press and I had to print a correction in the following issue.
5 And now for the big question. Zombies - love them, hate them, couldn't eat a whole one? Enquiring minds want to know
I try not to think about them. In not-so-distant lands, children are brought up believing that zombies roam the streets after midnight. Trust me?I?m the American-born daughter of two of those children. The cautionary zombie tales my immigrant parents passed down could fill a heavy storybook. Retweet this button on every post blogger

Tomorrow is....
...going to be busy. I need to go to work at the library, steam into my Fairy Bad Day revisions and post a GCC tour. Oh, and I should probably feed my family as well. But tonight it's all about fun. I'm going to watch Glee and then Carrie - yup, that's right. Carrie the Stephen King movie. My husband almost insisted on a divorce when he discovered that I hadn't watched it! Thankfully, we called it even since he forgot to put out the trash last night despite the fact I asked him twice. Apparently he thought I just meant put it in the bin, rather than take the bin out to the street. Mens' minds are complicated and confusing places. Or not - you decide!!!!
Anyway, more tomorrow.... Retweet this button on every post blogger

Gin Wigmore - Hallelujah
Lately I've become completely addicted to listening to Gin Wigmore. She is an amazingly talented NZ singer/songwriter who wrote this sone when she was sixteen, just after her father died.

comp and a catch-up!
I'm over at The Romantic Journey today talking about all sorts of exciting things (and yes, David Boreanaz might've been bandied about a couple of times, because I'm just so predictable). Anyway, as well as an interview, there is a copy of Zombie Queen of Newbury High up for grabs so don't forget to check it out!
Jenny Bent (my fabulous agent) has just announced that she has a new agent, Susan Hawk joining her.Susan specializes in young adult and mid-grade books, so make sure you head over to Jenny's blog to find out all the deets!
Finally, I took a day off from revisions to go and see New Moon with Sara Hantz and I've got to say I was loving all the half-nekkid werewolf action! I only read the first book so and while I've heard this movie is quite different from the book, I definitely liked it (though seriously, what's Bella's problem? She doesn't seem to like shopping or smiling. Not sure we could hang out but I do like her taste in men!!!!!!!) Retweet this button on every post blogger
